Event valet service and valet parking for private parties and weddings
To book an event valet service, post the date, address, guest count, arrival window and where cars will park, and ask for proof of garage keepers insurance. Plan one attendant per 25 to 30 cars, two at minimum. Event valet attendants typically bill $25 to $50 an hour each, and GigList ranks insured valet providers free on your date.

How to hire a valet attendant on GigList
From post to confirmed valet attendant in four steps.
-
1
Post the address and the arrival window
Say when most guests arrive and leave, not only the party hours. Valet is busiest in the first 45 minutes and the last 30.
-
2
Say where the cars will go
Your driveway, a neighbor's lot, a church or school lot you have permission to use, or street parking. Add the walk or drive time to it.
-
3
Pick from a ranked shortlist
See valet companies and attendants ranked by event experience, distance and availability, with their insurance answer in each reply.
-
4
Confirm and send the run sheet
Agree the rate, the number of attendants and the tip policy, then send the gate code, the lot map and the host contact for the night.
Screening questions to ask
Add these to your gig. Every applicant answers before you talk.
- Q1 Do you carry garage keepers liability insurance, and can you send a certificate naming the host or venue?
- Q2 How many private parties or weddings with this many cars did you run this year?
- Q3 Where would you park the cars at this address, and how long is the round trip per car?
- Q4 Does your city require a valet permit or a curb permit at this address, and will you file it?
Booking valet parking for a private party, wedding or company event
Hosts usually book valet for one of three reasons. The house sits on a narrow street where 40 cars would block the neighbors, the venue lot is a few minutes away, or the event is the kind where guests should not walk half a mile in formal shoes. A valet stand fixes all three, and it also gives the night a proper arrival: someone opens the door, takes the keys and the guest walks straight in.
Insurance is the part to get right. While a car is in the valet's care, damage is covered by the operator's garage keepers liability policy, not by a general liability policy alone, and not by your homeowners insurance in most cases. That is why most hosts book a valet company rather than a single freelance driver. On GigList the insurance question sits in the screening, so every provider answers it before you message anyone. Some cities, Los Angeles and San Francisco among them, also require valet operators to hold a city permit, and using curb space for a stand often needs a temporary permit, so ask who files it.
Size the crew from the cars, not the guests. Divide the guest count by two or two and a half to estimate cars, then plan one attendant per 25 to 30 cars, and never fewer than two, so one parks while the other greets. If the lot is more than a three minute run from the door, add an attendant or a shuttle. A 120 guest party with about 50 cars and a lot next door needs two attendants and a lead; the same party with remote parking needs three or four.
Valet works best as part of the full staffing plan for the night. You can hire event security for the door and the parking area, hire event staff for check in and coat check, and book the bar when you hire a bartender, all in the same account. Our valet service cost breakdown prices a house party, a wedding and a company event, and GigList pricing lists the flat plans, with no fee per hire and no markup on the attendants' rate.
