Two minutes to post

Title, category, place and budget. That is all you need to start.

A fair budget up front

See the typical range for your category and city before you publish.

A ranked shortlist

People who fit your gig, sorted by skills, distance and availability.

How posting a gig works

Four short steps from idea to the first person on the job.

  1. 1

    Describe the job

Write one clear line, like "Edit 6 short product videos" or "Two bartenders for a Friday party". Add skills if you know them.

  2. 2

    Set place and budget

Pick remote or a city with a radius. Choose a fixed price or an hourly rate. GigList shows the typical range next to your number.

  3. 3

    Publish and get matched

Matching starts the moment you publish. You see a ranked shortlist of people with the right skills who are free on your dates.

  4. 4

    Pick, message and hire

Read short summaries of each applicant, ask your screening questions, message the best ones and mark the gig as filled.

What to include in your gig post

Good posts get better people faster. Use this list before you publish.

  • A title that names the task and the result, not just the role
  • The date, the deadline or the shift times
  • Remote, hybrid or on site, with the city and how far people can travel
  • A budget range, fixed or hourly, so people know it is worth their time
  • The skills or tools that are a must, and the ones that are nice to have
  • What "done" looks like, for example 6 videos under 30 seconds each
  • Two or three screening questions that only a good fit can answer

Screening questions that save you time

Add up to five questions to any gig. Each applicant answers before you talk.

  • Q1 Which similar job did you finish last, and what was the result?
  • Q2 Are you free on the date and for the full shift?
  • Q3 Which tools or equipment do you bring?
  • Q4 What would you need from us on day one?

Any short job, online or near you

One account covers every kind of short work. Post a design task in the morning and a crew of event staff for Saturday in the afternoon. Hiring for a launch party? Start with our page on how to hire a bartender.

How much does it cost to post a gig?

Posting is part of your plan. Poster starts at $24 a month billed yearly and covers up to 5 gigs per billing period. There are no fees per gig or per hire.

How fast will I get applicants?

Matching runs when you publish, so you see a ranked shortlist of available people right away. On Business and Agency you can also invite your top matches directly.

Can I post local and event work?

Yes. Choose on site, set the city and a travel radius, and add the shift times. GigList ranks people who live close and are free on your date.

Do deleted gigs give me my slots back?

No. Limits count gigs posted in the billing period, so the meter stays honest. It resets with your next billing period.

Can I try it before I pay?

Yes. Use the gig builder on this page once without an account. You see a suggested budget and the top of your shortlist before you sign up.
