London based producer set to release debut EP Sol De Nit in August.

London based, German-born but Italian raised electronic producer Vonica has shared a video for single 'Ai' today, featured on his forthcoming EP Sol De Nit due August 17th via Lamela. After playing shows with Com Truise, Baio, Eyedress & Caribou members, Vonica is now ready to release the physical version of his music. Vonica explains the inspiration behind his ambient and electronic debut single 'Ai', "The first demo ideas for this track were written after I'd been to an Ai Wei Wei exhibition at the Royal Academy, hence the name. Musically it was one of the first songs to come about so it has this strong sense of urgency and joy of expressing myself under a different guise." There's an interesting backstory behind Vonica's beginnings - having been in an indie outfit with his best friend, who subsequently relocated to Italy to become a priest, Vonica was forced to go ahead and work on his music solo which culminated in what we hear today. Stepping outside the boundaries of his former indie background for the first time, Vonica found himself completely inspired by the first electronic music he began to make and 'Sol De Nit' was named in view of this as it basically translates from Catalan as 'sun at night' which he felt summed up the spirit of dance music.  The record has been worked on with mixing engineer Marc Pell (Mount Kimbie, Michachu And The Shapes).
