15 years in the making, Girl will be available to watch online in June.
is a feature-length documentary film, exploring the thriving subculture of the electronic music scene, and the trailblazing women driving its success. A labour of love, the film has been produced over a 15-year period and spans from the early 2000s up until the present day.
The director, Kandeyce Jorden, highlights pioneering women who made waves in a largely male-centric community, including Sandra Collins, Rebecca Sin, DJ Rap and Colette. Through the documentary, Jorden explores her own personal relationship with DJ Sandra Collins. Collins is a serial experimenter, dipping into emotional and powerful essences in trance and progressive house music. Jorden’s relationship with Collins blossomed over the film’s production period and saw her losing herself in Collins’ whirlwind lifestyle. She followed the renowned DJ to Russia, Mexico and even Burning Man, all of which can be seen in the film.
Jorden has delved behind the scenes to film interviews and intimate conversations - giving a voice to the women who enriched the nightlife and club cultures of electronic music and helped to curate a scene which is so iconic today.
The feature-length documentary will be available to stream online on 1st June and boasts a star-studded soundtrack with music from the likes of The Chemical Brothers, Colette and Gabriel & Dresden.
