More information about Sam Amidon tickets
Following the success of his latest Nonesuch album 'The Following Mountain', Vermont-born avant-folk musician Sam Amidon will present an expansive concert programme as part of the EFG London Jazz Festival, in which he creates a one-off dream band to perform his music.
This concert will feature Amidon's vocals, banjo, fiddle and guitar in collaboration with some of the UK's top jazz and improvising musicians: Byron Wallen (trumpet), James Allsopp (saxophone), Kit Downes (piano & organ), Larry Bartley (acoustic bass) and Chris Vatalaro (drums).
Sam has developed his own strong style as a singer and multi-instrumentalist over six highly-regarded albums of reworked folk songs and original material, and has flirted with jazz mavericks before. After playing with Bill Frisell in a past version of the Jazz Festival, his new album features a guest appearance by drummer Milford Graves. Uncut magazine chose The Following Mountain as one of their albums of the year, saying 'Sam Amidon's first album of original songs feels like a liberation. He's still steeped in the argot of weird Appalachia, but there is a loose, improvisational sensibility to these performances'
Sam will play two sets with no support act
