Innovators of the club-focused 'nu-jazz' sound return to London
From the very first moment this DJ/Producer collective came together as a group in 1995, there were no blueprints to predict what Jazzanovacould be or what they'd go on to be come over the coming years. At every stage, they have created and worked to their own rules. For most artists, releasing their first album in a decade might be a bit daunting. However, Jazzanova aren't most artists. Rather, they're an entity in a constant state of becoming.
With a career span of 23 years, their most recent release 'The Pool' comes 10 years after their 2008 release 'Of All the Things', just as highly anticipated and just as exciting. Without a doubt, 'The Pool' is easily Jazzanova's most complete album. Jazzanova has never slowed down, they never ceased making musical connections with scenes, other musicians, and fans. Even with most of the members taking time to start families and explore other projects; the nature of the beast was such that the music just kept on coming. Stephan Leisering, a founding member, said "There's a lot of influences that are similar throughout. The way we use sampling in a particular way, the way we play instruments in the studio, I think it gives it a very coherent sound."
Hot off a fresh release, Jazzanova promise to have the beats pumping, floor buzzing, and your feet moving with their classic blend of jazz, funk, soul, dance, disco and latin music. You'll want to be part of the fascinating story and journey of Jazzanova. There's still no template for what they are, they're still making up the rules, and that's precisely what keeps their music so very wonderful.
With only one date in the UK for their European tour, this promises to be a highlight of this summer.
