A Hawk and a Hacksaw
Iconic New Mexico accordion and violin due A Hawk and a Hacksaw (ex-Neutral Milk Hotel, Beirut, Bablicon) will visit Leeds to promote their new album Forest Bathing (LM dupli-cation). They explore the folk traditions of Eastern Europe with modern flourishes using an incredible breadth of composition and talent.
McWatt is Sarah McWatt on flute and accordion, and Seth Bennett on double bass and accordion. They make under-composed short instrumental songs. A lot of them sound like what a tired heartbroken drunk might want to listen to, particularly if they were at sea. Some of them are a bit happier sounding. Pastoral without being folky, remiscent of other forms without being pastiche, they gently plough on.
