More information about A Danny Kirwan Special tickets
A night celebrating music of guitar hero Danny Kirwan during his time with Fleetwood Mac.
Danny Kirwan is often considered an unsung hero of one of the greatest bands in history, Fleetwood Mac. In the shadow of Peter Green he stayed out the limelight but his unique guitar style and vibrato was as present on those early Fleetwood Mac recording as Peter.
A young Kirwan played his first gig with Fleetwood Mac in August 1968 aged just eighteen. His first recorded work with the band was adding a second guitar to Peter Green’s Albatross, before writing half of their 1969 album Then Play On and with Peter Green creating one of the worlds the most melodic and fierce dual lead guitar combos.
"I would never have done 'Albatross' if it wasn't for Danny. I would never have had a number one hit record” - Peter Green
"Danny's style of playing complemented Peter's perfectly because he was already a disciple. Danny and Peter were a natural fit... Danny's sense of melody on rhythm guitar really drew Peter out, allowing him to write songs in a different style." - Mick Fleetwood
"Danny worked out great from the start... He was an exceptional guitar player. His playing was always very melodic and tuneful, with lots of bent notes and vibrato. Playing live, he was a madman." - Mick Fleetwood
