Making a pledge to 'bring together notes from the underground', Wide Awake Festival promised to offer something altogether different to the mainstream festival experience. And the brand new festival intends to deliver.
In the latest lineup reveal, bubblegum indie icons Metronomy have been confirmed to headline London's Brockwell Park come 5th June this year.
It's the overall roster they've assembled, however, that offers the most intrigue; joining the aforementioned are The Murder Capital, Squid, Black Country, New Road, and Geoff Barrow's BEAK> project.
They'll be shaping an already impressive-looking lineup which includes The Comet Is Coming, Daniel Avery, Shame, black midi, Girl Band, and Drab Majesty. It's a formation of artists that truly spans experimental sonics like punk, jazz, indie, and techno, just as London-based promoters Bad Vibrations, LNZRT, and Snap, Crackle & Pop had initially suggested for the one-day festival.
With more left-field sounds, oddball purveyors, and burgeoning indie bands to be added, Wide Awake Festival feels it'll feature a lineup you won't find anywhere else in London this summer. And that's certainly a good thing.
Wide Awake Festival takes place in London's Brockwell Park on 5th June. Check out the full lineup so far here.
