Exactly ten years to the day after their first gig in London, The Killers announced that they would be releasing a greatest hits album. Direct Hits, which came out on November 11th 2013. This celebrated a full decade of the band’s work together. Although the band members have been super productive working on their own solo projects, the band have not released a new album together since Battle Born in 2012. Now, they have announced that they will finally be releasing a new album later this year called Wonderful Wonderful. The group have reportedly been working on the release since late 2015 and a number of big names are rumoured to have been involved with bringing it together. Lead singer, Brandon Flowers relayed that the band have plans to do more work with Flood and Alan Moulder. Singer-songwriter Ryan Tedder said in May 2016 that he has been working with the band on new material. As if that wasn’t enough to intrigue you, The Killers have premiered a single from the new album to draw you in. It debuted on Annie Mac’s Radio 1 show on June 14th, following a tantalising eleven-second teaser on June 9th. It is now available to stream in full on Spotify. The ‘The Man’, was recorded with Irish music producer Jacknife Lee, who has worked with the likes of Weezer and Taylor Swift, he also produced R.E.M’s 2011 album Collapse into Now. The track was recorded over a number of sessions across both Las Vegas and Los Angeles and, with its distinct Depeche Mode-esq style, it offers a great glimpse into what to expect from the LP. A press release from the band describes the new album as their “most sonically forward-thinking record yet; an LP bursting with all of the blazing choruses and arena-filling anthems”. The Killers are currently on a tour that will take them across Europe, the UK and the US. Although the new album doesn’t yet have an official release date, it has been described as “soon-to-be-completed” and is rumoured to be out before the band’s tour comes to a close in late October.
