LIVE: The 1975 @ Manchester Arena

No strangers to the biggest stages in the country, The 1975's homecoming leg of their Notes On A Conditional Form tour is yet another unforgettable series of shows for one of Britain's biggest bands.

Manchester Arena is packed to capacity as the Manchester faithful pile in to see one of their own perform. The 1975 have gone from quirky indie-pop ballads to socially aware arena anthems in just five years. All of their greatest attributes are on display at the Manchester Arena.

The self-titled opening track has become synonymous with The 1975, and their live shows. It sends shudders down the spines of those in attendance; preparing them for another set of golden selections. Frontman Matty Healy emerged on a crutch after injuring his leg earlier in the tour but still jumped around the stage as a man possessed for 'People', the lead single from the upcoming and eagerly anticipated album Notes On A Conditional Form.

The band have taken plenty of liberties with their setlist throughout this tour. This Manchester crowd play witness to a few rarities in the form of 'Menswear' and 'Milk'; as well as the timeless classics like 'Sex' and 'Chocolate' that help flesh out their set. The band create a show that's a perfect mixture of songs from all three albums, new singles and even some EP tracks to please the diehards.

Their new material sounds joyous and energetic, in particular, the unreleased 'If You're Too Shy (Let Me Know)'. Greta Thunberg's social commentary speech in the encore lifts the crowd while resonating with the many young faces in the audience, giving everyone the belief that they could make a difference.

Matt Healy and The 1975 have taken upon themselves to spread a message of positivity and unity to their ever-growing fanbase. It's no wonder that they are firmly becoming one of the most adored acts of their generation.
