Rapper, singer and activist M.I.A. has returned today with 'CTRL', which is currently premiering here. a rousing track fuelled by the artist's characteristic air of rebellion: 'Hands up, hands down / Wake up, snap out / We gon' stand up / When they try to CTRL'.

Having dropped an enigmatic teaser yesterday (Tuesday 08th September) on her social media accounts with the hashtage #FreeJulianAssange, it's of little surprise that the single is aligns with her opinions of the WikiLeaks founder and his current extradition hearings. The artist has historically shown allegiance with Assange, performing at the Don't Extradite Assange protest event back in November 2019, and even visited him at Belmarsh Prison, where he has been held since losing asylum from the Embassy of Ecuador in London.

The track follows 'Up Inna' with Cadenza and GuiltyBeatz, and hints at material for a new record, rumoured to be released later this year.
