Former Oasis frontman will release his debut solo album “As You Were” in October
Liam Gallagher has unveiled the artwork for his forthcoming solo LP “As You Were”. The artwork is reminiscent of John Lennon’s “Working Class Hero - Definitive Lennon" album cover. The straight up portrait sees both songwriters looking directly and intently into the camera lens, really capturing their intensity. It's almost eerie how alike both artists are in the portraits.
Liam recently released lead single “Wall Of Glass” from the LP along with a video which sees him dressed in Gold lame (!!). The track is dripping with that classic Gallagher swagger found in all corners of the Oasis back catalogue. It leans heavily from the leftfield into pop territory, which is probably due to a Greg Kurstin co-write credit. Gallagher recently said in a moment of rare modesty that “I’m not going out saying I’m Bob Dylan. Ideally, you want to do it yourself. But I can’t write those f***ing big songs. I’m limited. My verses are up there, but I just can’t do that next bit. There will be people that go, ‘Oh, well, you didn’t write half of it,’ but the main thing is getting a record done, getting back touring and doing what I do: singing and moving people, rather than sitting at home doing nothing, spouting off on Twitter.” None will be more pleased to hear this than his fans. It seems Liam Gallagher has finally realised that perhaps he doesn't need his brother Noel in order to produce great music, which is still inherently Gallagher.
Liam recently appeared for a surprise performance at the One Love benefit gig for the recent Manchester bomb victims and their families, alongside Oasis bandmate, Bonehead. Liam tweeted later on saying he was disappointed about Noel's lack of appearance.
Liam Gallagher's solo train will be stopping off at this weekend's Glastonbury festival, he will be performing on Saturday 24th. See Liam's live dates here.
