Independent Venue Week this year will evidently be very different to the raucous celebrations of live music in local communities we've been used to. But now more than ever there needs to be a spotlight shone upon the UK's grassroots music scene and it's grave importance to the wider music industry.

So, to mark the start of #IVW2021, a new documentary exploring venues and the communities that hold these venues dear called On The Road with Independent Venue Week will premiere tonight at 19:00.

Filmed over two years and featuring contributions Pink Floyd's Nick Mason, FatBoy Slim, IDLES, Nadine Shah, Gaz Coombes, Richard Hawley, and more, it'll offer an insight into the collaboration, creativity, and community that helps to establish the foundations of music scenes across the country, which offers the necessary platforms for up-and-coming artists to thrive.

A Q&A discussing the hard work and passion involved in behind the scenes efforts to keep the UK's grassroots venues alive and kicking will take place after the documentary's worldwide premiere, hosted by BBC 6 Music's Matt Everitt with Radiohead's Philip Selway, Portishead's Adrian Utley, Brudenell Social Club's promoter Nathan Clark, The Leadmill's promoter Rebecca Clark, and more amongst the talking heads.
