GigList’s Lockdown Lifeline Playlist

Feeling confused? Ditto. Concurrently happy, sad, high, low? Same goes. Not sure how to deal with the looming existential dread caused by continuous lockdown? Neither do we, that’s why we’ve made a lockdown playlist to reflect our constant state of emotional flux.

So we're in week eight (?) of lockdown, and though a return to reality seems to be edging ever closer, that's no real consolation. Depending on the way you look at it, life as we know it is in stasis, or a constant state of flux; the latter point is probably applicable to the way we're feeling. Or not knowing how to feel.

Spates of maniacal energy interlocked with bouts of sombre self-reflection, all peppered with mind-numbing boredom and a desire to be set free from the confines of our homes. Just me?

One thing we can always rely on (other than regular beer deliveries) to comfort, console, and even crush us however, is music. This is why I've put together a 'lockdown lifeline' playlist, to reflect the myriad of emotions I, and potentially you, may be/have been feeling throughout this exceptionally strange time in humanity.

This has been therapeutic for me at least, but there's always the risk of music acting as a catalyst for feeling all over the place. As High Fidelity's Rob Gordon famously muses: "Did I listen to pop music because I was miserable? Or was I miserable because I listened to pop music?" I'll leave it to you to decide.
