If her weekly Instagram live-streamed series 'The Bathtime Show' interviewing guests such as Phoebe Bridgers, Lucy Dacus, and SOAK in the tub is anything to go by, Fenne Lily is showing she's already accumulated a swathe of prestigious fans in the run up to her Dead Oceans label debut BREACH, out on 18th September.

Today she's revealed her latest single 'Solipsism' with an accompanying video, that on a visual level is equally lurid and unnerving as it is candy-flossed and polished, mirroring the Bristolian's distinct juxtaposition of dark lyrical content with a bucolic songbird aesthetic.

Featuring Willie J Healey as a cameo shop assistant, Lily says "a lot of situations make me uncomfortable - some parties, most dates, every time I’m stoned in the supermarket. ‘Solipsism’ is a song about being comfortable with being uncomfortable and the freedom that comes with that. If you feel weird for long enough it becomes normal, and feeling anything is better than feeling nothing. I wanted this video to be a reflection of the scary thought that I’ll have to live with myself forever. It’s surreal to realise you’ll never live apart from someone you sometimes hate. Dad, if you’re reading this you killed it as shopper number 2.”

Lily's wit and wry self-analysis certainly sets her apart from the slew of contemporary indie-rock songwriters, which is why her new album is so highly-anticipated and which is why we're already on her aforementioned list of fans.
